All I know is I’m 58 and still full to the brim with life and passion and an unwillingness to settle, and it’s driving me into poverty and I don’t know what to do about it, because I cannot help caring as much as I do. Do I just have to throw up my hands and go for it, just set myself to live however I have to in order to do it? Is there anyone else out there like me? Well, is there?

Or will they look at our time period and wonder why we allowed our lives to be full of mass-produced plain goods? Will they think we lived in an age of poverty?

Andrew Witty. He’s the head of the world’s second largest pharmaceutical company, GlaxoSmithKline, and he has pledged that in the 50 least developed countries in the world, the prices of the drugs his company makes will be cut to no more than 25% of US/UK prices, as well as making these same drugs more affordable in middle-income countries as well.

I think he’s right that these things (Design, Story, Symphony, Empathy, Meaning, and Play) have gone missing from the way businesses operate and that the results have not been good. I think he’s right that recognition of the value of these skills will result in much higher rates of job satisfaction and employer satisfaction with their employees.

One consequence of watching it for me will be my reading Betty Edward’s Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain .The Pink book, A Whole new Mind, and Bolte Taylor’s lecture have led me to understand for myself how it might be useful for me.
